Geschichten erinnern uns an Menschen, die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus wurden. Damit wir uns erinnern.

Info

With the Audible City Map you can visit the Stolpersteine in Basel and listen to the life stories of the people who sought refuge in Basel in vain. The stories come to life when we remember them.

Each Stolperstein on the map is marked with a QR code. The QR code leads directly to the corresponding audio story.

The audible city map is free of charge and available at the bookshops Ganzoni and Olymp & Hades in Basel, also Buch am Dorfplatz in Allschwil, Staatsarchiv Basel-Stadt, BaselTourismus and at Bruderholz Optik.

The Audible City Map was developed by Verein Echo. With its educational projects, they want to raise the awareness and importance of remembering. The Audible City Map is distributed free of charge and financed by donations. Contributions are very welcome.

Verein Stolpersteine Schweiz

Small commemorative plaques, so-called Stolpersteine, are laid in the ground to commemorate the fate of people who were persecuted, murdered, deported, expelled or driven to suicide during the National Socialist era. The memorial stones are placed at former places of residence or work of the victims. First Stolpersteine in Switzerland are in Zurich, Basel, Bern, St. Gallen, Winterthur, Tägerwilen and Kreuzlingen.

Historians research and document the stories of the people who receive a Stoperstein. The resulting texts were the basis for the short biographies of the audio contributions for the project «When Stones Speak». The original texts are available as pdf files for each audio contribution. They contain more detailed information, pictures, literature references and sources.
